Position Summary:
The General Manager has overall responsibility to develop and execute the business unit’s strategy, and to achieve objectives guided by the leadership values of Sauder Manufacturing Co (SMC). In so doing, the General Manager facilitates the effective functioning of the Leadership Team of the business unit to assure total customer commitment and satisfaction. This position is accountable to the President of SMC for the following outcomes:
· Build the culture in the business unit consistent with the Company’s Leadership Values;
· Ensure both the highest level of customer satisfaction possible and the efficient operation of the Business Unit;
· Develop effective strategies and initiatives for a proactive, aggressive sales and marketing approach to constantly heighten the levels of both revenue and profit for the business unit.
Experience and Knowledge Required:
· An undergraduate degree in Production/Industrial Management and/or Business Management is preferred
· Minimum 5 – 7 years’ leadership experience, preferably from within the contract furniture industry
· A creative thinker with a strong, practical business sense and capable of resolving complex organizational, operational and customer-related problems
· Clear communication and effective engagement with others that motivates and stretches individual and team talents to higher levels of competency.

· Ability to lead either directly or indirectly while positively influencing the results of multiple functions of the Business Unit including but not limited to: Production, Engineering, Sales, Customer Service, Marketing, New Product Development, Procurement, Logistics, Warranty, Human Resources, Accounting
Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit in meetings or at a computer for 2-3 hours at a time. The employee will also be required to walk throughout the plant at various times during a typical day. Use of hands and fingers will be required for writing, computer use, and phone use.
