This position will be responsible for all payroll-related tasks. In this role, your responsibilities will include collecting and reviewing employee information and working hours, calculating wages, preparing and processing payments along with maintaining acute payroll records. The Payroll Specialist should be able to investigate, resolve payroll issues, processes payroll and provides exceptional level of accuracy in their work as any mistakes in their calculations will have severe implications for the entire organization. To excel in this position, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a comprehensive understanding of payroll operations are a must.
Responsibilities
· Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employees’ hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information. Which may include multiple states, multiple unions, Federal and Public Works Contracts.
· Process payroll changes (e.g. new hires, terminations, raises) and system upgrades.
· Ensure that the payroll accounts are managed accurately and timely, ensuring that all
payments are made accurately and on time.
· Processing of weekly and semi-monthly payroll-all confidential
· Set up and maintain all personnel files.
· Collaborating with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams
· Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems.
· Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll
errors or final discharge.
· Records and processes federal and state payroll tax deposits, via ADP Tax
Compliance.
· Prepares and submits union fringes and reports.
· Quarter end spreadsheets to report tax data information to ADP.
· Complete child support submissions.
· Complete unemployment compensation inquires.
· Responsible for direct deposit uploads.
· Produce certified job payroll reports.
· Review of ADP tax issues.
· Quarter/Year end balancing.
· Preparation of information for production of W-2. Prepares and maintains accurate
records and reports of payroll transactions.
· Facilitate audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
· Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and
procedures.
· Prepare and provide annual wage increase and bonus spreadsheets as required by
division.
· Process auto allowances in the payroll system.
· Administer Davis Bacon compliance efforts including the calculation of regular and overtime rates.
· Process and provide updated wage statements as requested by personnel to
calculate billing rates for employees based on total costs.
· Answer phone calls and research payroll related issues for managers and employees.
Requirements and skills
- 5 Years of experience as a payroll specialist or similar role preferred.
- Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field; professional certification (e.g. CPP, CPM) is a plus.
- Processing union payroll is a plus.
- Experience using Construction or Payroll Software Programs (Trimble/Spectrum) is a plus.
- Ability to process and manage payroll in a confidential manner.
- Current knowledge of payroll procedures and related laws
- Proven experience with using MS Office (especially Excel)
- Excellent organization skills, time management and prioritization abilities.
- An analytical mind and good math skills
- Outstanding communication skills (written and oral)
- Must be able to work under tight deadlines.

Pay: $50,291.00 - $60,000.00 per year
