Saunders Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is located in Wynnewood, PA on SEPTA bus routes G and 105. What we look for in a Nursing Staff Coordinator:
Reporting into the Director of Nursing and Administrator, this position plays a critical role in establishing and maintaining proper staffing levels for a 24/7, 180 bed skilled nursing facility. It is essential that applicants have experience in working collaboratively with the nursing staff, staffing agencies, the DON, Administrator and Human Resources to anticipate current and future staffing needs and implement a strategy to secure staff on a timely basis.
Responsibilities include:
- Accepts initial responsibility for managing the scheduling of staff for all units and shifts. Provides evening and night supervisors with procedure and contact information for use when needing to fill any call outs that occurred during those shifts.
- Assures that adequate staffing requirements are consistently met in accordance with the Department of Health regulations.
- Serves as a point of contact for RN’s, LPN’s and CNA’s relative to schedule changes, assignment changes, vacation requests, etc. Consistently manages all changes.
- Serves as liaison with staffing agencies as approved by the Director of Nursing or Administrator. Obtains pre-approval by Director of Nursing before agency staff is engaged.
- Monitors scheduling issues weekly relative to department call-outs, resignations, leaves of absence so that recruitment needs may be anticipated. Anticipates and works to prevent problems proactively.
- Develops and maintains a current master schedule for all nursing units and shifts.
- Identifies trends. Provides data relative to nursing care hours per patient day, use of per diem fulfillment of schedule requirements, regular staff fulfillment of scheduled shifts, overtime and facility staffing plan.
- Participates in on-going preparation for State surveys.
- Additional related assignments.
Qualifications required:
- Minimum 2 years of skilled nursing staffing coordinator experience in a long-term care setting. Supervisory experience is a plus.
- Experience in using On-Shift staffing application or similar staffing tool.
- Professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven willingness to work as part of a team or independently as needed.
