Savage Services, a supply chain and logistics company, has an immediate opening for a Dispatcher at our operation located in North Salt Lake, UT. The Dispatcher will partner with the leadership at Savage's AF operation by managing the dispatch personnel, making operational decisions, and ensuring customers are served according to Savage standards. The Dispatcher will be scheduled to largely support field operations year round. The schedule for this position will be on call 24/7, with a regular 5 day work week and could be substantially more given weather, new work, etc. and other challenges that surface at various times. Communication at all times within reason is expected. This includes responding to text messages, emails and phone calls 24/7. A computer is provided for this position.

- Oversee and train employees during orientation, communication meetings, task training and safety regulations

- On occasion, lead operational task forces and special projects including: team organization, planning, develop action items and see through to implementation
- Take an active role in the safety program, including: propelling the culture of safety, correcting unsafe acts/conditions, assist in writing procedures, and injury management
- Coach and lead drivers in understanding and meeting their KPI’s, including goal setting, feedback and guidance to achieving short and long term success
- Ensure daily communication with team members including: immediate performance feedback, follow up to concerns/ questions/ideas, acknowledging successes and correcting behavior
- Serve as a customer service representative, making frequent contact with the customer and ensuring Savage is delivering no-worry service
- Develop a timely and accurate system for documenting operational activities, including: DOT logs, the daily shift summary, etc.
- The Dispatcher will report directly to the AF Operations Manager
- Strong communication and interpersonal relationship skills are essential
- Become a subject matter expert on dispatch systems and all onboard electronic systems
- A BA/BS in business is preferred, but not required
- Lead Safety Specialist/safety specialist status and experience is preferred
- Management and/or Supervisory experience in the field, transportation and/or related field is preferred, but not required
- Demonstrated ability to lead change required
- Ability and willingness to communicate own perspective and opinion as well as completely support operational directives
- Ability to use logic, uncover the facts and keep the big-picture in mind when solving problems
- Handles stress well in difficult situations
- Ability to manage numerous contacts and maintain relationships that benefit in times of need
- Encourages others to help them achieve/exceed their potential; a developer of people
- Analytical skills. Able to interpret data and use it as a tool for operational improvement
- Capable of developing a team through defining roles, promoting relationships, expressing appreciation and encouragement, providing support and motivation
- Good planning and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and carry critical projects to completion
- Intermediate/advanced computer skills, particularly with applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and all dispatch systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to the success of the position
- Willingness to complete all tasks necessary to reasonably serve the customer and manage the terminal, including being on call 24/7
- Positive, regardless of circumstances; must be a supporter of team decisions and a team player
- Sense of Urgency; has the ability to earn the respect, loyalty and confidence of the customer and all team members
- Demonstrate initiative in an ambiguous environment
- Natural ability to forge strong and positive relationships with others; must possess honesty, integrity and maintains confidentiality
- Willingness to relocate
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
