Savage is looking for a Trucking Supervisor to supervise our trucking operations at our satellite yard in Golconda, NV. In this role, you will provide ongoing support to the Operations Manager and team by helping them achieve their goals in a timely manner. This includes hands-on work in material transport, maintenance, administrative assistance, and leading projects.
What you'll be doing:
Act as “working supervisor” and helping wherever needed (including driving a truck)
Provide support to operators in day-to-day operations
Ensuring good communication between the office and team member
Keep the Operations Manager informed on operational progress / deficiencies
More involvement in S7 – specifically with SH&E and Customer sections
Appropriately delegate tasks based on team member skill set and operational needs
Ensure we meet our customers’ expectations and are proactive in meeting their needs.
Ensure we have a safe operation by having the team follow procedures, use stop work authority, and model shared leadership for the team
Responsibilities are not all-inclusive and may change based on the need of the company
Coordinates with and assists the site management team to safely and efficiently provide worry free service to customer
Effectively utilize Savage Operating Systems to manage the day-to-day operations of logistics, people development, scheduling, etc.
Continuously demonstrates leadership competencies and professionalism through all interactions with employees and customer
Must visit customer sites to improve customer relationships
Call drivers for scheduled shifts or cancelled shifts
Work with the dispatch and change loads or Team member’s around as needed.
Exercise STOP WORK AUTHORITY when required
Follow up of shifts to account for all paper work and accuracy prior to submitting to coordinators/managers
Attend monthly supervisors meetings
Attend communication meetings
What you'll need:
High School Diploma or GED required
College degree a plus
1 years of experience in a supervisory role, preferably in an industrial setting
CDL Class A required, with a doubles/triples endorsement and driving experience
This is a 24/7 operation, and being on-call is required
Commitment to working safely at all times
Ability to be exposed to the outdoor elements
Physical requirements of the role:
Climb on and off trucks safely
Consistently bend, stoop, kneel, squat and climb frequently
Work, walk, and stand on uneven surfaces
Occasionally lift up to 75 lbs
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
Operate basic hand tools
Wear required PPE
