Position Summary

GWCCA is currently seeking a Vice President of Campus Operations to join its team of professionals. The Vice President of Campus Operations reports to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for the strategic planning, execution and direction of Facility Management and Facility Operations which include the following functions: housekeeping, event set up, ground maintenance, utility and exhibitor services, and skilled trades’ such as air conditioning mechanics, automotive mechanics, plumbers, electricians, painters, carpenters, and facility maintenance technicians. This position plays a vital role in the organization by ensuring all maintenance and service delivery for the campus are executed safely, efficiently and within regulatory guidelines. ESSENTIAL DUTIES And RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop strategic direction for facility management and facility operations departments
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, standard operating procedures and the quality operating program
  • Plan and implement opportunities to achieve organizational alignment interdepartmentally
  • Evaluate total quality management program annually for operations and update as required
  • Plan and implement an effective preventive maintenance program for all electrical, mechanical and architectural components, systems and structures
  • Plan, develop and administer annual budgets; maintain control of operating expenses; update rolling forecast and manage expense line items for assigned departments as required; define operating costs centers
  • Evaluate all inspections with outside regulatory agencies
  • Develop preventive maintenance program for inspection of facilities; partner internally and externally to lead facility inspections
  • Evaluate utility and exhibitor services inclusive of online ordering, operational planning, operational staffing, operational servicing, operational execution, and reconciliation of the event expenses
  • Provide administrative leadership and oversight to ensure all building setups, conversions, event executions and post-event cleaning are efficiently handled
  • Partner with Corporate Social Responsibility to seek continuous opportunities to support sustainability efforts
  • Prepare, publish and maintain a long-range capital program for the GWCCA facilities. The program will be utilized to prioritize the annual Office of Planning and Budget requests plus align the annual operating budget priorities. Implement and execute priorities generated from the plan based upon schedule, funding and priorities.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate regularly with stakeholders within the organization to ensure campus operations program objectives are being met
  • Build and lead high performing teams; attract and retain the best qualified candidates. Create and keep a succession plan for department
  • Evaluate team performance through use of objective metrics to include survey feedback from customers, exhibitors and attendees
  • Develop, mentor and empower team to reach their full potential, both technically and professionally
  • Engage and maintain a relationship with all clients/customers of the Authority
  • Proactively evaluate current and future services as well as make recommendations for continuous improvement
  • Such other duties, functions, special projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer

  • Experience leading and overseeing large-scale Energy Performance Contracts

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

  • Must have a Bachelor degree in Facility Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; experience may substitute for education
  • Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of overall experience in facility maintenance, preferably in a major convention, hospitality, or multi-purpose facility
  • Must have a minimum of (5) years of experience in management capacity
  • Relevant certifications in arena/venue management, safety, or project management (preferred)
