Job Summary:
Savannah Oaks Academy is seeking a passionate and dedicated 11th & 12th Grade Social Studies Teacher to engage students in a rigorous, thought-provoking curriculum that fosters critical thinking, historical inquiry, and civic awareness. The ideal candidate will inspire students to make connections between historical events and contemporary issues while preparing them for college and career success.
Key Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum Development:
- Teach U.S. History, Government, and Economics to 11th and 12th-grade students.
- Design and deliver engaging lessons that integrate historical analysis, primary source evaluation, and real-world applications.
- Utilize interactive teaching methods, including debates, simulations, and research projects, to promote student engagement.
- Incorporate technology and digital resources to enhance learning experiences.
Student Support & Assessment:
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs and ensure student growth.
- Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
- Foster a classroom culture of respect, inquiry, and academic excellence.
Classroom & School Community Engagement:
- Maintain open communication with students, parents, and administration regarding student progress.
- Participate in school events, professional development, and collaborative planning with colleagues.
- Support students in college and career readiness initiatives related to social sciences.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Teaching experience in high school Social Studies (grades 11-12 preferred).
- Strong understanding of historical research methods, civic engagement, and economic principles.
- Ability to create an inclusive and culturally responsive classroom environment.
- Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with hybrid or non-traditional learning models.
- Familiarity with college and career readiness programs.
- Strong technology integration skills.
