What are the responsibilities and job description for the LSE Technical Undergraduate Intern position at Savannah River National Laboratory?
The intern will assist senior mechanical engineers in the design, fabrication, assembly and operation of scale-up or mock-up equipment to simulate facility processes and equipment such as mixing / settling, heat transfer, filtration studies, calibrations and mechanical testing. Tasks may include CAD / design / drawing development, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), ASME code calculations and reviews, valve / pump / piping selection, test equipment assembly, machine shop interface, equipment calibrations and safety reviews. The intern will work with principal investigators and senior staff members to define work scope, develop / update schedules, execute designated work, present results and assist with laboratory tours as needed. Undergraduate in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
