Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. Located at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken SC, the laboratory develops and deploys innovative technologies to address some of the nation’s environmental, energy, and national security challenges.
SRNL’s Global Security Directorate (GSD) is seeking a technical expert to help in the development and execution of its Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation project portfolio. The successful candidate will propose projects, lead and execute technical scope, and mentor less experienced staff using their research and development expertise. Expertise in actinide chemistry, nuclear engineering and material science is essential for this role as projects will focus on nuclear material use, processing, handling, and characterization. It is expected that whoever fills this role will grow into program development leadership, thought leadership, and/or project or line management.Experience working directly with and for NNSA sponsors, specifically those within NA-20 Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation, any direct experience with NNSA desirable.PhD in nuclear engineering, material science, or other related field. 15 Years Experience working with actinide metals and casting and all laboratory experience working with nuclear materials.Proof of complete COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption authorization will be required for employment at SRNL. Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
