Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Facilities, the Custodial Foreperson is a supervisory position and is responsible for overseeing a clean and healthy environment for the University's facilities. The Foreperson supervises up to 30 employees (institutional and contractors) by performing safe critical custodial tasks. The incumbent maintains department expectations of providing high quality and consistent service by supervising, scheduling, and training the custodial work force. The Custodial Foreperson maintains positive and professional relationships with facility occupants and staff, working in designated buildings. This position works around equipment/machinery, and stands on different surfaces; walks extensively, and climbs stairs. The incumbent plans, organizes, and directs all aspects of the daytime custodial program. This position supervises custodial training and inspection programs, schedules and coordinates all custodial assignments, and ensures custodial conditions are maintained at optimum levels at all times. The incumbent may be directed to perform job-related duties other than those specifically delineated in this description.

Responsibilities
- Inspect assigned buildings, areas and work assignments to ensure standards of cleanliness are maintained and all custodial requests are properly addressed
- Prepare annual performance evaluations for subordinate personnel
- Attend all supervisory management meetings
- Respond to and supervise after hours specialized cleaning and/or emergency needs when notified by Facilities Management, Housing Management and University Police
- Perform cleaning duties for absent workers
- Plan, assign, and supervise work of custodians in the care of cleaning campus facilities and areas to ensure university policies, departmental procedures, and safety rules are properly followed
- Submit daily report to senior leadership verifying completion of work requests and indicating new and/or outstanding requests
- Participate in interviews, new employee orientations, and new training for employees
- Ensure all custodial equipment is being properly maintained, utilized and stored.
- Report and deliver defective equipment to maintenance department
- Leads meetings with custodial staff
- Monitor inventory and supplies
- Verify payroll data and keep track of subordinates' vacation and annual leave
- Recommend changes to policies and/or procedures as needed
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Valid state issued driver¿s license
- Five (5) years of cleaning, custodial/janitorial experience
- Must be able to work variable shifts and overtime at different locations
- Working knowledge of cleaning equipment and cleaning processes, tools, of the trade, methods used for specialized cleaning and safety cleaning precautions, and chemicals
- Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds

Must be able to operate tools and utilizing cleaning chemical according to safe work practices.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years of Custodial/Janitorial supervisory experience
Proposed Salary
The proposed salary range is $41,000.00 - $45,000.00 annually.
