Position Overview: 

The Graduate Fellow will support private fundraising efforts, working closely with the Philanthropy Operations team within the Partnerships & Philanthropy division. Specifically, the Fellow will contribute to fundraising strategy, donor communications, thought leadership and market research and analysis. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Support Fundraising Strategy:
    • Assist in the development and implementation of comprehensive private fundraising strategies, with an emphasis on individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
    • Conduct research to identify potential funding sources, including individuals, foundations, and corporate prospects.
    • Help analyze fundraising data to determine trends, donor interests, and engagement opportunities.
  2. Donor Communications:
    • Draft and edit donor communications, including program overviews, proposals, and impact reports. 
    • Help maintain and update donor stewardship materials, ensuring they reflect the organization’s real-time achievements.
    • Assist in the creation of tailored communication plans for high-value donors and prospects.
  3. Thought Leadership:
    • Provide administrative and logistical support for priority thought leadership events (conferences, webinars, private donor roundtables)
    • Assist in drafting messaging and content for events to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
    • Track the impact of thought leadership efforts and provide recommendations for improvement.
  4. Research and Market Analysis:
    • Conduct research on new trends and tools in private philanthropy.
    • Support the identification and cultivation of new prospective partners through research on their philanthropic interests and giving patterns.
  5. Team Collaboration and Meetings:
    • Participate in team meetings, contributing ideas and insights.
    • Collaborate with various Philanthropy Operations team members as needed.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or recent graduate of a relevant graduate program (e.g., nonprofit management, communications, business administration, or related field).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft compelling fundraising materials.
  • Demonstrated interest in fundraising, nonprofit work, or social impact sectors.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with CRM/donor management systems is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with a positive attitude.

Duration and Hours:

  • Expected duration: 12 weeks (Mid-Feb to Mid-May)
  • Hours: ~35 hours/week
  • Location: Remote / Washington, D.C. Or Fairfield, CT office
