We are seeking an experienced and growth-seeking Commissary Kitchen Manager to join the Savory team in our Long Island City commissary location! Our ideal candidate will anticipate and address the needs of the company and our client partners with a focus on order fulfillment, quality control, and delivering high-end final products while maintaining a high standard of hygiene and safety in accordance with the USDA, Department of Health, and Savory standards. This role works closely with our Sous Chefs to maintain Savory’s standards of exceptional quality in our product and exemplify internal hospitality in their leadership skills.
Our ideal candidate has proven experience as a kitchen manager or supervisor at a commissary kitchen or with a catering group and will anticipate and address the needs of the company and our clientele with a heavy focus on hospitality, exceptional quality, service, health, and safety standards.

This role is a key addition to our growing team. Here are some examples of the primary responsibilities of our Commissary Kitchen Manager:
- Oversee day-to-day food preparation and culinary activities under the guidance of the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs
- Produce menu items of exceptional quality
- Maintain a high-volume production schedule by ensuring the operation is efficient, cost-effective, and profitable
- Exemplify and train staff as needed on best practices of food safety and storage in accordance with USDA and NY Department of Health requirements, with particular regard to the safe cooking, cooling, and storing of large-scale and batch-production food
- Collaborate with Talent Acquisition team on commissary team hiring
- Assist in monthly inventory and ordering
- Maintain organized walk-ins and workspaces
- Escalate employee and quality issues to culinary team leadership as necessary
- Comply with and enforce all sanitation and safety regulations
- Maintain a positive and professional approach with the culinary team, exemplifying hospitality both internally and externally

Your experience should show us the following:
- Proven work experience as a kitchen manager/supervisor or comparable, 3 years preferred
- Excellent record of kitchen management
- Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Ability to identify and solve problems efficiently
- Desire to grow and learn new skills
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Knowledge of current cooking trends and best practices
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Experience with catering software and inventory management software (Flex and/or Restuarant365 a plus!)
- Bilingual or professional proficiency in Spanish is a plus!
Job requirements
- Capability to maintain a stationary position, often standing for prolonged periods in varying temperature conditions
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, ability to repeatedly lift up to 25lbs
- DOH Food Handler’s certificate preferred
- Willingness and flexibility to work a daytime schedule Monday – Friday and occasionally including nights, weekends, or holidays
