As the Leader in Recruiting Intelligence, The Edens Group, LLC has been retained by a mission-focused digital services and technology consulting firm to identify a dynamic and innovative Executive to directly support all of their FedCiv Growth and Capture work as this division expands within the firm. The Company has over 500 employees and reports over $100M in annual revenues. This highly visible position will work with the most Senior Execs across the company to develop strategy, drive business growth, and assist in building and expanding customer relationships as you mentor, guide and direct the BD and Capture staff at the company to leverage all capabilities.

Summary Description

As the Vice President of Sales, Growth and Capture, you will be responsible for exhibiting a forward-thinking vision for all disciplines across the FedCiv markets. The VP is a people manager, leader, and mentor who effectively manages team operations to support department success. You will serve as a Subject Matter Expert and the primary decision-maker for the growth and capture disciplines. This VP is expected to successfully lead through direct reports and effectively communicate and execute against organizational objectives. In this role, you will be a member of the Company’s senior leadership team actively partnering with leadership peers to achieve business objectives while employing a strategic mindset to influence organizational growth.

This VP must exhibit strong communication skills, with the ability to direct coordination among varying teams and departments to develop and implement standard processes and procedures supporting growth. This position will work closely with the appropriate business programs to provide strategic direction and leadership; develop comprehensive and compelling solutions; support the qualification of new business opportunities; develop creative and innovative capture strategies; and assist in the preparation of winning proposals for government clients. This will involve partnering with technical teams to build a qualified pipeline, as well as working closely with marketing, finance, proposal and contracts to develop and win new business. This is a hybrid role in the National Capitol region and will require professional maturity to dictate your own schedule.

Understanding market trends and the technical direction of their customers and translating customer intelligence into compelling capture strategies and solutions is an essential part of this position.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Multi-dimensional, strategic leader who will identify and develop new business opportunities focusing on digital services transformation and technology modernization.
  • Business development and strategic capture executive who has demonstrated sales/capture leadership and opportunity shaping and led multiple capture efforts that have won major contracts of $25-$75 M.
  • Relevant experience in business development and capture within the U.S. Federal Civilian market, focusing on digital services transformation, technology implementation, software and application development, or other relevant domains.
  • Demonstrated experience teaming with small business partners – as both prime and subcontractor - and understanding of small business IDIQs, GWACs, and other contract vehicles.
  • Experience building and driving successful prime/sub-teaming relationships on large-scale deals and pursuits.
  • Experience with business models like Joint Ventures (JVs), mentor-protégé arrangements, and SBIRs in the federal contracting market.
  • Cultivates business development and strategic capture practices.
  • Build a successful business development team to execute market strategy.
  • Develop business development capture strategies that align with target Federal Civilian agencies.
  • Represent the Company at conferences and industry events in the Washington, DC area and beyond.
  • Support and/or develop marketing campaigns to build brand awareness, generate leads, and stimulate client demand.
  • Provides support to ensure opportunities are successfully moved through the opportunity lifecycle and helps to develop and manage growth operations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills and ability to manage multi-person, multi-year pipelines.
  • Experience cultivating and managing pipelines, forecasting, and closing deals.
  • Ability to shape and deliver on a strategy to cultivate new customer relationships in strategic Federal agencies.
  • Overseeing the execution of call plans and capture activities in alignment with company priorities and values.
  • Exhibits a strategic mindset with the ability to communicate to all levels of the organization effectively.
  • Develops and manages department annual budgets and submits them for final approvals to leadership or the CFO; is responsible for budget management.
  • Responsible for performance management, timecard reviews, PTO management, and team development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 12 years of experience. Relevant years of experience may be substituted for education.
  • Prior experience managing business development and capture teams.
  • Extensive experience with government contracting, pipeline development, strategic capture, and a proven track record of winning opportunities with target agencies.
  • 6 years of people management experience (sales and/or capture teams), responsible for defining expectations for team operations and performance management.
  • Based in the greater Washington, DC area.

Salary & Benefits

The compensation for this role is very competitive. Base salary is highly competitive and commensurate with the position, with a 30% -40% incentive bonus, plus an equity package and a strong benefits package.
