The Sawdust Art Festival is a non-profit organization located on a 2.5-acre historic eucalyptus grove in beautiful Laguna Beach. For more than 50 years the Sawdust Art Festival has been delivering on its mission to provide art education to the public and promote local artists. Our summer and winter festivals are home to nearly 200 artists, attract more than 200,000 visitors each year. and have earned prestigious honors including LA Times Best of Southland- Reader’s Choice Top 10 Family Friendly Attraction in 2021, and #1 Favorite OC Event (2020), OCR- Best Fair/Festival of 2020 (winner) and 2021(top 3), and Trip Advisor Travelers' Choice of 2020 and 2021.
The Sawdust Art Festival is seeking a creative and well-organized individual to join its team of year-round staff, working in a stimulating outdoor/indoor environment. The Art Class Coordinator will be responsible for implementing three art class programs including:
- Summer/Winter Festival Art Classes ~ These classes operate out of various studios on our grounds. The Art Class Coordinator will help hire and train seasonal staff to provide art classes during our festivals, develop staff and class schedules, and order and inventory art supplies.
- Outreach Classes ~ Coordinate with Sawdust artists who are providing classes to guests during off-season events. Includes scheduling, organizing art supplies, prepping studios prior to classes.
- Art Studio Rental ~ Oversee the Sawdust art studio rental arrangement including processing applications and fees, set-up and break-down of studios, and welcoming class participants.
We' re looking for someone with:
- A flexible schedule that can accommodate occasional evenings and frequent weekends
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficient computer skills including word processing and spreadsheets
- Experience managing staff who are new to the workforce
- Arts education or training
This full-time salaried position reports directly to the Managing Director and starts at $52,000-$56,000 and includes healthcare benefits.
