Job Summary:
The incumbent serves as a Teaching Assistant. The incumbent supervises students in the classroom in the absence of the classroom teacher with the following responsibilities: Attendance Taking, Behavior Monitoring, Assignment Monitoring, and Daily Record Monitoring. Furthermore, the Teaching Assistant provides students with guidance in completing assignments left by the classroom teacher and supports classroom instruction as needed.
The incumbent is responsible for effectively managing the classroom. The incumbent participates in faculty and professional meetings. The Teaching Assistant reports directly to the School Principal and performs duties with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers with classroom instruction and student engagement.
- Supervise students in the classroom in the absence of the teacher.
- Take attendance and monitor student behavior.
- Provide academic support to students in completing assignments.
- Maintain classroom order and enforce facility policies.
- Monitor student progress and maintain daily records.
- Operate all job-related equipment and collaborate with other departments to enhance student learning.
- Provide written reports and participate in multidisciplinary treatment teams.
- Attend and successfully complete all required training and certifications.
- Develop and review clear, accurate, and concise reports compliant with departmental policies.
- Promote good working relationships with students, staff, and external agencies.
- Maintain a positive image to the public in all responsibilities.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to implement daily and weekly teacher lesson plans.
- Ability to create and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Ability to manage educational department supplies, equipment, and tools.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Previous experience in an educational or juvenile justice setting is a plus.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with at-risk youth.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $18.68 - $22.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
