Position: Azure Platform Architect
Location: Hybrid in Grand Rapids, Michigan (Relocation OK)
We are seeking an Azure Platform Architect to join our team and lead the architecture of enterprise data solutions. This role involves designing and optimizing Data Lakes, Data Warehouses, and other data and analytics solutions using Azure technologies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Azure's data stack, along with strong consulting and collaboration skills.
Responsibilities:
- Define the architecture for enterprise Data Lake and Data Warehouse solutions.
- Establish functional and non-functional requirements, including performance monitoring, alerting, and code management, ensuring alignment with best practices and SLAs.
- Provide technical expertise on Azure Data Factory, Log Analytics, Databricks, Synapse, Power BI, ADLS Gen2, Polybase, and Machine Learning/AI.
- Work closely with ITS Security and Infrastructure teams to ensure secure development and deployment of solutions.
- Lead industry research, evaluate new products and vendors, and assist in the selection process.
- Design and develop data and analytics solutions leveraging the full Azure stack.
- Build and optimize data pipelines, including ingestion, storage, prep, training, and serving, using Azure technologies.
- Ensure data quality, governance, security, and compliance across all solutions.
- Automate Azure workloads and design data architectures that support Data Governance, Data Classification, and Legal Compliance.
- Implement and manage backup, monitoring, and disaster recovery (DR) strategies for Azure-based data solutions.
Required Skills:
- Extensive experience with Azure Data Factory, Log Analytics, Databricks, Synapse, Power BI, ADLS Gen2, Polybase, and Machine Learning/AI.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling, data classification, and data movement.
- Expertise in designing and optimizing data pipelines and architectures using Azure technologies.
- Proficient in Python, Scala, PowerShell, or similar scripting languages.
- Experience in API architecture and integration within Azure.
- In-depth understanding of storage, backup, monitoring, and disaster recovery (DR) for enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of data quality, data governance, and security best practices in Azure.
- Ability to work with diverse technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments.
Desired Experience:
- Previous experience in Power BI reporting and data modeling.
- Hands-on experience in Azure automation and cloud data architecture.
