What are the responsibilities and job description for the First Grade Teacher position at Saydel Community School District?
Saydel Teacher:
PURPOSE
Under the general supervision of the building principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district and state approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations and goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
A. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to provide effective instruction to meet student needs relative to district initiatives and standards
Knowledge of “best practice” in teaching
Knowledge of the developmental characteristics of students at the designated grade level
Ability to build effective relationships with all stakeholders
Knowledge of the Iowa Teaching Standards
Knowledge of special education and section 504
B. Education
Hold a bachelor’s or higher degree and the required Iowa certificate for the assigned position.
C. Certification/Licensure
K-6 Teacher Elementary Classroom
D. Preferred knowledge, skills, and/or attributes
Strong communication skills
Knowledge of professional learning and collaboration
Understanding and application of a continuous improvement mindset
Project-based preferred
Data-driven decision-making skills
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrates effective implementation of the eight Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria
Implements student-centered learning environments and improves overall quality and meaningfulness of learning opportunities
Meets professional responsibilities as outlined within Individual Professional Development Plan, Employee Handbook, and Board policy
Monitor and maintain accurate records on student achievement, articulating the progress and success
Fosters a classroom environment conducive to learning
Demonstrate the ability to work and communicate effectively with students, peers and adults
Perform other duties as assigned by the principal
