Director of System Operations
We are seeking an experienced IT leader with over 10 years of experience managing system operations for more than 100 end users. Reporting directly to the CEO, this role is responsible for ensuring security, mitigating risks, and implementing system upgrades and policy improvements. The ideal candidate will drive operational efficiency, oversee cloud migration, and maintain a secure, high-performing IT infrastructure.
Summary of Responsibilities:
The Director of System Operations serves as a technical expert in system administration, security, and infrastructure management. This role oversees system security, maintenance, backups, and cloud migration. The ideal candidate will have experience planning, organizing, and documenting complex system designs, ensuring alignment with institutional policies, and effectively communicating technical concepts. Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing system configurations, integrating new technologies, monitoring performance, and responding to emergencies.
Essential Functions:
- Oversee daily system operations, performance monitoring, configuration, and maintenance.
- Implement security protocols, monitor vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practices.
- Manage and support network hardware, security components, system hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
- Administer and support core Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, and VMware technologies.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, backups, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Lead cloud platform administration and migration (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and virtualized environments (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Develop automation scripts (PowerShell, Bosh, Python) to enhance efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
- Manage staff, providing training and mentorship to ensure user support.
- Identify, evaluate, and implement software solutions to improve operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate IT records, including configurations, troubleshooting steps, and SOPs.
- Collaborate with vendors for hardware, firewall, telecom, and software procurement and integration.
- Provide after-hours support for infrastructure emergencies and occasional weekend maintenance.
- Communicate with the CEO on system operations, security status, and risk mitigation strategies.
Other Responsibilities:
- Perform routine network maintenance, upgrades, and security configurations.
- Configure and install network devices and services, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and ensure system reliability.
- Maintain security compliance and perform periodic security audits.
- Optimize IT infrastructure to support business goals and growth.
Qualifications
Certifications:
- Security & Compliance: CISA, CISM, CISSP, GSEC
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Microsoft Certified (MCSE, AZ-104), AWS Certified, Google Cloud Certification
- Networking: Cisco Certified (CCNA)
- Cybersecurity: Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- 10-15 years of progressive IT experience, including system design, software support, and infrastructure management.
- Strong expertise in LAN/WAN networking, Active Directory, and security management.
- Experience transitioning on-site systems to cloud environments.
- Proficiency in Windows Server, Active Directory, and Linux environments.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve network and infrastructure issues.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Must be organized, accountable, and adaptable to evolving technologies.
- Ability to work on-site with on-call availability.
- This position does not support remote work.

Salary : $115,000 - $135,000
