Program
SBCS' Youth Development Academy (YDA) is a partnership with San Diego County Probation Department to provide evidence informed, pro-social, and developmentally appropriate programming to youth in custody at East Mesa Juvenile Detention Facility. This program serves youth ages 14- to 24-years old who have been committed to long-term sentences for serious felony offenses. The Youth Development Academy uses a trauma-informed, positive youth development model to support the youth and families we serve while in custody, and as they transition back to the community.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Program Coordinator, under the supervision of the Program and Department Directors, is responsible for providing services to SBCS' clients and the community. Services will be aligned with the agency's goals, objectives, and mission and provided within a team framework. The YDA Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the program, identifying appropriate evidence-based programming, supervising and guiding YDA staff, developing positive relations with Probation staff, and assisting the YDA Director to guarantee adherence to contract scope of work. The YDA coordinator reports directly to the YDA Director and is responsible for keeping with agency goals, objectives, mission, and style and provided within a team framework.
DUTIES :
- Manage the daily operations and overall management of the YDA team
- Supervision of staff performing programming services, develop positive teamwork environment and provide ongoing supervision including evaluations.
- Completion of required trainings and monitoring of program implementation.
- Hiring, training and development of Youth Development Academy staff
- Collaborating with Program Director on scheduling
- Participate in partner meetings to ensure clear communication, coordinated service delivery, and effective resolution of challenges as they arise.
- Development and implementation of program orientation, procedures, guidelines, and policy.
- Oversee staff files to ensure that they meet the requirements of SBCS and contract.
- Work within a locked juvenile detention facility.
- Oversee the monthly statistical reports of services provided as required by SBCS.
- Must be available to respond to crisis and emergencies as needed.
- Involvement with special projects and activities as related to agency's goals and objectives.
- Comfortable working in a juvenile detention facility.
- Represent SBCS in agency special events, such as fundraisers, annual meetings, and open houses.
- Oversee, train, and assist staff with case management, assessments, reentry services, and identification of resources in the community for transitioning youth.
- Attendance & active participation in Leadership Team, team meetings, department meetings, agency meetings & other committee meetings as assigned.
- Attend all agency required meetings and trainings.
- As other duties assigned.
