The Opportunity
We are looking for a seasoned production and sourcing leader who is obsessed with making products and brings a wealth of relevant experience to this stage in our company’s growth.
As the leader of our entire production department, the VP of Production oversees and is responsible for the end-to-end production process across all of our product lines (Mainline Fashion Jewelry, Fine Jewelry, Goodies, Packaging & Displays). This includes Vendor Compliance, Vendor Management (Sourcing, Relationships, Capacity Planning, Negotiations), Production Schedules and Product Quality Control. They will be the main representative and point of contact of the brand to our overseas factories and will have the exciting opportunity to travel frequently.
In addition to growing the existing team to support the company’s planned growth, the VP of Production will play a pivotal role in ensuring that our goal of producing best-in-class products is achieved, and directly support driving revenue for the business by ensuring inventory is available when expected. They will ensure production is cost effective by driving negotiation of product costs with the vendors based on the Company’s target costing parameters. They will set the production schedule and ensure products are not only produced on time and of top quality, but in a responsible manner, monitoring vendor partners for compliance with all legislative and Brand specific health, safety, labor and sustainability standards.
The VP of Production is a partner to the VP, Merchandising & Product Development (a newly created and recently filled position) and will work hand-in-hand with them. They will champion cross-departmental collaboration and communication so all stakeholders across the company know the pertinent information that impacts their role like delivery dates, unexpected delays or challenges with skus in production, etc.

Responsibilities:
Vendor Management (Sourcing, Relationships, Capacity Planning, Negotiations, Compliance, Efficiency)
- Identify and vet the best partners for the company in terms of overall design, quality, cost, delivery, sustainability, working conditions/safety and innovation. Oversee the onboarding of any new vendors.
- Lead negotiations, and develop plans to enhance and maintain optimal profit margins based on company & financial targets. Negotiate discounts and manage conflict resolution with vendors. Work with vendors to ensure first quote/costs are accurate & provided to company in a timely manner
- Oversee the short-term and long-term view of our vendor networks’ capacity to ensure production is allocated based on company needs and factory capabilities
- Maintains deep knowledge of evolving industry standards and ensures that JB’s partners are aligned with the Company’s sustainability goals, and produce our product in a way that supports product quality, delivery requirements, and do so in a way that upholds health and safety, environmental and labor standards.
- Responsible for the timely production of all product lines. Sets the production schedule and identifies delays and/or production concerns to cross-functional teams in a timely manner.
- Partners with the Finance Team & VP, Merchandising & Product Development to ensure that production is aligned with budget, the design vision and production costs including product margins
- Develop a method/process to provide foresight to cross-functional teams on which development styles are at a higher risk for factory delays/defects (risk assessment/score)
- Leads the development of the wear testing program, staying close to the cross functional teams (Brand, Client Care, eCommerce, Wholesale) to gain insight from customer complaints, returns, replacements etc.
- Lead strategies for continuous improvement to product
- Lead production team in troubleshooting/fixing problems/concerns that arise during production
- Develop a “watchlist” for PP and TOP sample review
- Reports to the Chief Operating Officer (COO)
- Provide strategic leadership & mentorship to the existing Production team that supports the business across all product lines - mainline fashion jewelry, Fine, Goodies etc., in addition to all future hires
- Build & leads the internal training, processes, and standards required to ensure consistent product across all categories, lead implementation of new technologies & equipment where applicable
- Partners with the Chief Operating Officer to lead team role design, career development, coaching, and recruitment efforts, ensuring the Production team’s growth aligns with company objectives and individual development goals.
- Establish KPIs that measure product success to inform future business decisions
- Review of production KPI’s and take action when they fall behind
