Description

Position Summary

Are you passionate about helping communities recover and thrive after disasters? As SBP's Construction Project Manager, you will execute all construction-related activities associated with the program. This team member will oversee the completion of housing rehabilitation for eligible clients in accordance with available funding and SBP program rules and regulations. This position reports directly to the Director of Construction and is also responsible for training and providing appropriate guidance to the AmeriCorps Project Leads.

Responsibilities

  • Manage 8-10 active projects, as well as additional projects in pre- or post-construction
  • Lead, develop and retain a team of 8 -12 AmeriCorps Members
  • Conduct pre-construction site assessments to determine homes that are ideal for the program
  • Develop accurate and thorough estimates and scopes of work for newly assigned projects
  • Create and track project schedules to ensure that the project stays on schedule
  • Track budget vs actual for each assigned project, identify trends and propose solutions to ensure more accurate budgeting
  • Schedule and coordinate subcontracted labor and / or internal teams and volunteers
  • Review and approve subcontractor invoices and draw requests
  • Maintain accurate electronic construction files.
  • Be solutions-oriented and innovative in scheduling volunteers on construction projects and ensuring each project offers a meaningful volunteer experience
  • Participate in start file meetings, inspections and project close outs according to SBP and / or grantor program requirements and alongside members of the Client Services Team and client
  • Communicate progress towards completion and answer questions from client or Client Services Team
  • Provide initial and ongoing training for AmeriCorps members
  • Provide additional support to Director of Construction and the program as needed

Requirements

  • Education & Experience : Minimum of 5 years of residential construction experience. Experience with Xactimate and / or Procore a plus.
  • Skills : Excellent project management skills, including effective planning, organizing and prioritizing tasks. Top-notch written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Abilities : Ability to read architectural drawings, estimate projects and develop scopes of work. Able to lift up to 50 lbs and do physical labor in diverse weather conditions. Ability to train unskilled AmeriCorps members and volunteers in all phases of construction
  • Alignment : Passion for SBP's mission and the resilience to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Technical Savvy : Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace
  • Flexibility : Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment
  • Compliance : Ability to pass a criminal background check. Valid Driver's License
