JOB TITLE: Heavy Equipment Operator
S.C. Swiderski (SCS) is seeking an experienced and reliable Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This role requires proficiency in operating excavation equipment, including bulldozers, forklifts, backhoes, dump trucks, skid steers, and snow removal equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and teamwork, contributing to the successful completion of excavation and construction projects while maintaining company equipment and project sites.
Job Responsibilities & Time Breakdown:
Heavy Equipment Operation (60%)
- Operate bulldozers, forklifts, backhoes, skid steers, and other excavation equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load, haul, and unload equipment and materials from vehicles and trailers.
- Dig and backfill foundations, footings, and trenches.
- Perform site grading and excavation to precise measurements.
Site Maintenance & Labor Support (25%)
- Assist with shoveling, grading, and exposing underground utilities.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Support snow removal operations as needed.
- Ensure proper storage and upkeep of company equipment and materials.
Leadership & Teamwork (10%)
- Work closely with the Excavation Manager to meet project deadlines.
- Provide mentorship and training to excavation crew members.
- Promote a safe and productive work environment while fostering team collaboration.
Documentation & Compliance (5%)
- Complete required paperwork and daily equipment inspections.
- Report necessary repairs, upgrades, or replacements for heavy equipment.
- Follow all OSHA and company safety regulations to ensure compliance.
What We’re Looking For
Required:

2 years of experience operating heavy equipment in excavation, grading, or construction.

Valid CDL License (Class A or B) and a clean driving record.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints & site plans.

Strong knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:

Experience with underground utility work.

Proficiency with telehandlers, boom lifts, and other specialized equipment.
Physical Requirements & Work Conditions

Lift and carry 50 lbs regularly, 80 lbs occasionally.

Work in all weather conditions on active job sites.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods.

Monday – Friday, 45-50 hours per week (some overtime & occasional travel required).
