The Job
The Senior Manager, Consumer Experience Insights (CXI) spearheads SCAN’s efforts to leverage advanced analytics, including machine learning and AI, to enhance the member experience and make data-led business decision-making. This pivotal role is at the forefront of transforming consumer insights into actionable strategies to elevate every facet of SCAN's service delivery. By managing a team dedicated to extracting and interpreting complex data sets, this leader ensures the generation of meaningful insights that drive business decisions and strategic initiatives. The Senior Data Science Manager plays a critical role in advancing SCAN's analytical capabilities, directly influencing the organization's approach to addressing business challenges through innovative data solutions.
You Will
- Direct Advanced Analytics Initiatives: Oversee the application of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI to analyze both structured and unstructured Voice of the Customer (VOC) data. Develop and implement VOC surveys, data structures, and dashboards for comprehensive insights.
- Enhance Business Processes: Utilize data insights to drive business process improvements across the organization, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Lead Strategic Analytics Projects: Act as a cornerstone for the Data and Insights strategic initiatives, employing sophisticated analytical methods to deliver tangible business value. This includes managing the analytics project lifecycle from functional design to execution. This includes but not limited to implementing a Customer Data Platform, Member 360 view, personalization models and segmentation models to drive specific business outcomes.
- Project Management and Resource Allocation: Strategically allocate resources and lead project planning to meet the objectives of the Consumer Insights team, ensuring the successful completion of advanced analytics projects.
- Implement Scalable Analytical Solutions: Champion the adoption of scalable analytics technologies, such as text and speech analytics, to uncover insights from new data sources, enhancing SCAN’s analytical capabilities.
- Rapid Data Integration and Insight Dissemination: Ensure swift movement and integration of diverse data sets across the organization to facilitate timely insights, influencing key decisions and strategies.
- Drive Quality and Access Initiatives: Lead efforts to improve member access and satisfaction through data analysis, focusing on CAHPS surveys and identifying key drivers for enhancement.
- Foster New Business Development: Conduct ad-hoc analyses to support the exploration and development of new business opportunities within SCAN.
- Team Leadership and Development: Mentor and develop the advanced analytics team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement. Manage analytics vendor relationships.
- Leadership and Vision: Provide clear direction and vision for the team, inspiring and motivating team members to achieve their best work and align with organizational goals.
- Effective Communication: Exhibit strong communication skills to articulate complex data insights and strategies to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment and understanding across the organization.
- Change Management: Lead the team through organizational changes, ensuring smooth transitions and maintaining team morale and productivity.
- Performance Management: Set clear performance expectations, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance reviews to ensure continuous improvement and professional growth of team members.
- Talent Acquisition and Retention: Identify and attract top talent to the team and implement strategies to retain high-performing team members, ensuring the team remains strong and capable.
- Strategic Thinking: Exhibit strategic thinking skills to align the team's efforts with the broader organizational goals and long-term vision of SCAN.
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degreen or equivalent experience
- MBA or related graduate degree preferred
- 7 years of progressive leadership experience in a Data Science function.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred; experience in managed care a plus.
- 8 years of experience using quantitative methods: Modeling, machine learning, feature creation, construct analysis, multivariate statistical analysis and model building, and predictive modeling.
- 4 years of experience writing SQL code in relational database environment
- 4 years of experience writing statistically-related code in ‘R’, Python, or Matlab (or equivalent),SAS.
- Experience constructing survey tools, required
- Proficiency working with public and private external data like Nielsen, Axioms, and CMS data.
- Advanced knowledge of Text analytics techniques in a scripting language required
- Knowledge of Tableau is a highly preferred for data visualization and analysis.
- Clinical code knowledge related to claims/utilization, preferred.
- Ability to document processes and analyses for reference/re-use, required.
- Experience in a Medicare Advantage environment, preferred.
- Excellent technical, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, required.
- Expert project management skills including the ability to design and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, organize and complete multiple projects efficiently and on time.
- Must be able to clearly communicate results and conclusions to various constituencies at various levels of management and to provide actionable reporting via written and in person presentations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a diverse team and build cooperative, productive relationships with internal clients, internal analytic partners, research vendors and other agencies.
