The Safety Intern assists the Safety Director as needed. Safety Interns are committed to ensuring daily conduct on a project is lawful and consistent with safety and risk management efforts. In addition, Safety Interns help identify potential safety hazards and the means to correct them. Safety Intern tasks and duties may involve some combination or all of the following:


  • Assist in implementing risk management and safety policies and procedures in compliance with Scarsella's policies, all federal, state, county and local rules and regulations for both field and office operations, maximizing a safe working environment
  • Assist in ensuring all subcontractors are aware of and meet Scarsella's general safety conditions and specific job site and/or environmental requirements that apply
  • Assist in reviewing and approving Subcontractor Safety Programs
  • Track and evaluate worker injuries
  • Assist in investigating accidents and "near misses" to minimize recurrence and investigates/prepares accident reports
  • Attend weekly safety meetings for construction crews; provide documentation to Safety manager and Risk Management
  • Monitor First Aid supplies, replenish as needed
  • Be available to team members in the event an injury and/or crisis takes place; obtain current information and help provide a plan of action
  • Give verbal preliminary reports to the Safety Engineer or Project Safety Manager
  • Tour jobsite at least daily to inspect fire and safety equipment, machinery, and facilities; identify and correct potential hazards; and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Assist in coordinating safety training to educate workers about safety policies, laws, and practices

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in a Safety Degree program at a 4 year college or university
  • Demonstrated work ethic
  • Strong written and interpersonal communication skills; basic math/accounting skills
  • Ability to work a pre-assigned schedule with minimal disruptions
  • Function effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
  • Good time management skills and organizational skills


Salary : $30 - $35
