Main purpose of position
Currently we are looking for a Senior Contract Manager in Oslo, Norway to be part of our global team working together towards our vision – Improving our future. As our Senior Contract Manager, you will be responsible for the effective management of a large EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) subcontractor, ensuring contractual compliance, risk mitigation, and commercial performance. The role involves overseeing contract execution, managing claims and variations, and working closely with legal, commercial, and project teams to ensure project success.
The first project you will be responsible for is the Egypt Green Hydrogen project which starts construction later this year.
Main responsibilities
- Contract Administration & Compliance: oversee and manage all contractual obligations related to the EPC subcontractor; ensure the subcontractor complies with contractual requirements, including scope, schedule, quality, and cost obligations.; act as the main point of contact for contract-related communications and issue resolution.
- Risk & Claims Management: identify, assess, and mitigate contractual risks throughout the project lifecycle; Manage and negotiate claims, variations, and disputes with the EPC subcontractor; ensure timely resolution of contractual issues while protecting the company’s commercial interests; work with legal and project teams to develop strategies for risk management and dispute resolution.
- Change & Variation Management: administer change orders and variation claims, ensuring they are properly documented, justified, and approved; negotiate pricing and schedule impacts related to variations with the subcontractor; maintain an accurate record of all contractual changes and associated commercial impacts.
- Cost & Performance Monitoring: monitor the subcontractor performance against contractual KPIs and milestones; ensure cost control and budget adherence for subcontractor-related expenditures; support project and finance teams in forecasting and financial reporting related to the EPC contract.
- Stakeholder & Communication Management: coordinate with project managers, engineers, procurement, and finance teams to ensure smooth contract execution; engage with legal advisors and external consultants when necessary; represent the company in meetings with the EPC subcontractor, ensuring contractual interests are upheld.
Qualifications and competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business, or related field.
- Master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., MRICS, FIDIC, NEC, PMP, or LLM in Construction Law) is advantageous.
- 7 years of experience in contract management within the EPC or construction industry.
- Strong background in managing large-scale EPC contracts, particularly with international subcontractors.
- Experience with FIDIC, NEC, or other standard contract forms is highly desirable.
- Proven track record in handling claims, variations, and disputes.
- Fluent both written and spoken in English
