Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and dedicated National Electro-Mechanical Field Service Technician to join our team and provide expert service and support for multi-spindle machine & 5-Axis Grinders systems across the country. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, installing, maintaining, and repairing multi-spindle machines & 5-Axis Grinders at customer sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electro-mechanical systems, a passion for customer service, and the ability to work independently while adhering to company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform installation, maintenance, and repair services on multi-spindle machine systems and 5-axis grinders at customer locations nationwide.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues in multi-spindle machines and 5-axis grinders, identifying root causes and implementing solutions.
- Provide detailed service reports for every job completed, including repairs, parts used, and customer feedback.
- Conduct preventive maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Support our rebuild program by refurbishing and upgrading existing machines to extend their lifespan and improve efficiency.
- Work closely with customers to provide technical support and train operators and maintenance teams on machine operation and best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering and technical support teams to escalate and resolve complex technical issues.
- Maintain a strong inventory of spare parts and ensure timely replenishment when needed.
- Comply with all safety protocols and ensure that work is carried out safely and in accordance with relevant standards.
- Travel extensively to customer sites across the country, sometimes on short notice, and stay on-site as needed for extended periods.
- Travel to the parent company in Cologne, Germany, as required for training, collaboration, or support.
- Travel to the U.S. headquarters in Jackson, Michigan, as required for training, meetings, or support.
- Provide on-site troubleshooting, repairs, and calibration of machine systems, including mechanical, electrical, and control components.
- Maintain and update records on customer machines, service history, and any service recommendations for future visits.
- Assist other departments when in-house and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in servicing, repairing, or troubleshooting multi-spindle machines, 5-Axis Grinders or similar electro-mechanical systems.
- Strong knowledge of electrical circuits, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and control systems.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and CNC machines is essential.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in the field.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with customers and team members.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including overnight stays, to customer sites across the nation.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
- Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Siemens, Fanuc, Beckhoff or other CNC control systems.
- Certification in electrical or mechanical systems (e.g., Certified Maintenance Technician, Journeyman Electrician, etc.).
- Familiarity with safety standards and regulations, such as OSHA, and experience in implementing safety protocols in the workplace.
- Previous experience working for a machine tool builder or a service provider in the manufacturing industry.
