Duties
- Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures.
- Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring they are clean and well-stocked.
- Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately.
- Administer medications as directed by physicians and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
- Perform basic laboratory tests and assist with coding for billing purposes.
- Schedule patient appointments and manage follow-up care.
- Provide education to patients regarding treatment plans and medication administration.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Medical Assistant is preferred, especially in internal medicine, dermatology, or urgent care settings.
- Knowledge of physiology and anatomy is essential for effective patient assessment.
- Familiarity with coding practices for insurance billing is a plus.
- Ability to work in a hospital or outpatient environment, including potential exposure to pediatric intensive care units (PICU).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory.
