PRIMARY FUNCTION / POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for driving the associated category portfolio of metal fabricated product to deliver category and business objectives. The Category Manager for Metal Fabrication will develop, align, and implement several different supply chain strategies to deliver the most cost-effective methods for the business. Spend under management will cover internal production requirements as well as 3rd party supply for the category. A key deliverable of this role is to ensure the creation and/or development of sourcing strategies that enable reduced costs with the required service and quality to our customers.

- Category strategy development, management & execution to support growth & profitability targets
- Subject matter expert in procurement related activities for metal fabricated product
- Apply customer, industry and competitor knowledge & leverage global resources
- Develop deep ties with key stakeholders – Product, R&D, Field Ops, Supply Chain
- Shape category vision using knowledge & innovation to influence product team
- Attend meetings, trade shows, conferences, conventions, and seminars to network with people in other purchasing departments.
- Drive simplicity & standardization
- Secure resources for key projects to deliver individual & category deliverables
- Drive teams to execute key projects within target milestones (scope, timing, budget)
- Drive efficiencies in business practices
- Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes.
- Identify, evaluate, develop & maintain - lead structured and cross-functional approach to performance management
- Measure & hold accountable to KPI’s
- Contract execution driving key legal & commercial inputs
- Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors, and other representatives.
- Purchase the highest quality merchandise at the lowest possible price and in correct amounts.
- Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine reasonable prices
- Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities, and the supplier's reputation and history.
- Support all product initiatives and provide direction and improvements to product teams
- Manages budget and deliver objectives for the metal fabrication category
- Balance TCO with risk (sole v dual source, political, geographic)
- Combine benchmark/ RFP/ innovation workshops with should cost/ analytical approach
- Process improvement/innovation & best practice
- Incorporate with category strategy & deliver key metrics – cost, quality, delivery
- Monitor changes affecting supply and demand, tracking market conditions, price trends or futures markets
- End to End Supply Chain – Order Process, Lead Time, Inco Terms, Inventory Management
- Deep Understanding Of Compliance / Internal & External Audit Requirements
- Technical Aptitude – Drawings, Specs, Manufacturing
- International / Global Sourcing Experience
- People Management/Development & Team Leadership
- Category Sourcing Strategy Development, Negotiation & Implementation
- Target Driven – Creates High Performance Culture & History of Exceeding Goals
- 6 Sigma, Lean, Quality & other Technical Qualifications or Experience
- CIPS Certification or Equivalent
- Sourcing Basics (RFQ’s, Auctions, Order Process, Negotiation, Tactical Purchasing etc)
- Product Lifecycle / Change Management Processes
- Standard Software Systems including SAP
