Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for setting up, operating and monitoring extrusion machines for high temperature polymers on downhole cables in oil & gas industry.
- Select and measure compression and tubing extrusion tips/dies
- Assemble and dis-assemble compression and tubing extrusion heads
- Clean the extruder barrel and screw • Set controls to regulate vacuum, air pressure, temperature and tension • Set up and operate extrusion machines under normal supervision
- Locate defects on extruded conductors/cables
- Check for conformance to specifications
- Familiar with the use of measurement devices (laser mic, hand mic, dial mic, wrap around tape, scale, optical comparator)
- Record necessary data and as well as perform computer input and retrieval completely and accurately
- Work independently of others as well as with team members, area managers, and support personnel
- Assist with work center inventories
- Use participative team management style
- Wear PPE, as required, and observe health, safety and environmental policies
- Successfully complete required safety training (including but not limited to forklift, drug and alcohol, electrical, emergency response, fire, first aid, health and hygiene, PPE, SIPP, risk reporting, IT security, hazardous materials, driving)
- Employees may be assigned other duties, in addition to or in lieu of those described above, and any duties are subject to change at any time, according to the needs of the company.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum three years of experience in extrusion
- Basic Skills:
- Lift, carry, position, push, pull, 50 pounds
- Use fingers to touch and surfaces for lumps, holes, roundness
- See and distinguish colors
- Hear and distinguish sounds (high/low pitch, rasping, roaring)
- Basic computer skills (Email, Microsoft Office)
- Basic mechanical skills (use of hand tools)
- Stand, walk, and sit for long periods of time
- Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US, without sponsorship.
