RECEIVING CLERK
POSITION SUMMARY:
Verifies and keeps records on incoming shipments and distributes tools and supplies. Compares identifying information and counts, weighs or measures items of incoming shipments to verify information against bills of ladings, invoices, orders, or other records. Inputs necessary data in computer to record receipt of goods.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Routes items to departments.
- May operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from receiving platform to storage or work area.
- Directs others in receiving incoming shipments.
- Maintains records of supplier performance problems.
- Distribute and receive hand tools and supplies from stockroom.
- Complies with established policy, safety standards, and quality procedures to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
Training and Experience: High school or equivalent.
Physical Demands: The employee is required to:
- stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead and bend to the floor
- exert at a minimum 50 pounds of force occasionally
- lift up to 75 pounds occasionally
- weight, force or shape of object may require the use of overhead crane or lifting assist
Working Conditions: The employee is subject to an industrial worksite including but not limited to:
- noise from operating machines
- moving equipment or moving machine parts
- objects that may have sharp edges or burrs
- machine shop related chemicals that may require restricted handling and proper use of PPE
