Qualified candidates will be well-rounded, organized problem solvers with excellent communication skills, an interest in solving technical challenges, and experience with residential, commercial, or industrial land development in Virginia (including Erosion and Sediment Control, Stormwater Management, and Land-Disturbance Permitting).
Job Responsibilities
- Work within the civil and environmental engineering group to provide land development and site design support, from conceptual planning through detailed site design, plan production, land disturbance permitting, construction, final as-built, and permit termination
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to prepare detailed site plans necessary for land disturbance permitting (including Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management)
- Prepare engineering calculations required for Erosion and Sediment Control and Stormwater Management meeting regulatory requirements
- Prepare civil/environmental engineering recommendations, technical specifications, opinions of probable cost, schedules, and other write technical deliverables
- Prepare site plan submittal applications, including Site Plans, Erosion and Sediment Control Plans, Stormwater Management Plans, Registration Statements, BMP Maintenance Agreements, and SWPPP’s, as required to meet various project requirements
- Perform site inspections, attend owner and regulatory meetings, and assist with construction contract bidding and administration activities as necessary to meet client needs and expectations
- Work within the civil and environmental engineering groups and across other Schnabel business units and offices to effectively balance workload among available resources
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 5 to 10 years of professional experience in land design and development in Virginia
- Active PE Licensure in Virginia
- Extensive knowledge of Erosion and Sediment Control, Stormwater Management, and Land Disturbance Permitting in Virginia
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Proficiency with Office 365, and other productivity software
- Excellent oral and written communication skills

- Demonstrated experience with civil design and environmental permitting for site design and development, including Virginia Erosion and Sediment Control, Stormwater Management, and Land Disturbance Permitting.
- Ability to lift 60 pounds and be physically able to navigate construction sites, safely enter work areas, traverse steep slopes and uneven terrain, and work in the outside elements when required
- Ability to perform field work and travel as needed for projects
- Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
Salary : $73,202 - $110,015
