What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at Schneck Medical Center?
Schneck Medical Center is looking for a talented Controller to lead the accounting department. This position will report to the Senior Controller. Controller will plan and direct the accounting operations of the organization to include accounts payable, financial reporting, financial analysis, tax returns, budgeting, internal controls, compliance, cost accounting and payroll. The successful candidate will have excellent organization, management and communication skills.
Highlighted Duties:
- Manage daily accounting and staff
- Oversight of financial analysis, financial reporting and analysis for Schneck Medical Center and related entities
- Oversight of payroll and accounts payable
- Responsibility around internal controls and compliance
- Responsibility for all monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reporting
- GAAP and GASB compliance
- Coordinates year-end reporting and annual financial statement audits
- Works closely with non-financial leaders to provide guidance and expertise in organization finances
- Responsible for coordinating and overseeing annual budget process
Skill and abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar required
- CPA preferred
- Knowledge of tax reporting
- Recent hands-on accounting leadership role
- 8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience overseeing daily accounting operations
- Strong background in financial reporting and understanding of GAAP
- Excellence verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills needed to effectively convey information to others
- Experience with hospital/healthcare finances is a plus
- Ability to successfully work independently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
