Job Description:
We are looking for a meticulous and experienced U.S. Customs Import & Export Trade Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and ensuring compliance with all import and export activities, facilitating smooth international trade operations and have a strong background in international trade. This position reports directly to the Trade & Customs Ops Manager in Franklin, TN.

General understanding of U.S. Customs valuation rules, ability to ensure proper classification and origin determination for all imported and exported goods. Ability to apply working knowledge and experience of import/export regulations and requirements to support business needs. Maintain a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations and interpret requirements for compliance as they relate to Export Administration Regulations (EAR) of the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).

PLEASE NOTE:
This role is not a data analytics position. Customs compliance positions require knowledge related to laws and regulations governing the import and export of goods, ensuring accurate declarations, and proper classification.

  • Compliance Management:
    Ensure all import and export activities comply with U.S. customs regulations, international trade laws, and company policies.
  • Documentation: Prepare, review, and manage import and export documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and export declarations.
  • Customs Clearance: Coordinate with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and government agencies to facilitate timely customs clearance for both imports and exports.
  • Tariff Classification: Classify goods according to the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ensure accurate tariff application for both import and export transactions.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all import and export transactions and documentation for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Reporting: Generate and analyze reports on import and export activities, compliance status, and cost analysis.
  • Other Customs Activities: Experience with other Customs programs such as Duty Drawback, Reconciliation, Free Trade Agreements; Bond Management; ACE, is preferred.
  • Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues related to customs clearance, tariffs, and import/export regulations.
  • Communication: Liaise with internal departments, suppliers, and government agencies to ensure smooth import and export operations.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in customs import and export operations or related field.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. customs regulations, HTS classification, and international trade laws.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and customs software.
  • Certifications: Customs Broker License or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) preferred.
