Position Overview
As a Pastry Team Member at Schonert’s, you will play a vital role in preparing and executing breakfast and dessert offerings with precision and care. Your responsibilities will include managing pastry inventory, prepping for upcoming orders, and ensuring our breakfast and dessert items meet the highest standards.
This role provides an opportunity to take ownership of pastry operations, making it ideal for someone who thrives with autonomy and responsibility.
On a weekly basis, we produce hundreds to thousands of our locally famous gourmet cookies. Additionally, we cater many cinnamon rolls, scones, muffins, quiches, hot bakes, pies, cheesecakes, bars, tarts, and more.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage pastry inventory and maintain stock rotation.
- Prepare, bake, and fulfill breakfast and dessert orders.
- Keep the department proactively prepared to meet demand.
- Follow recipes and portion guidelines to ensure consistency and quality.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to optimize workflow.
- Adhere to food safety and health regulations.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
- Passion for pastry, baking, and quality craftsmanship.
- Ability to work early mornings (4-5 AM start times).
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and perform well under autonomy.
- Previous pastry or kitchen experience is a plus but not required.
Position Details
- Schedule: 15-30 hours per week, with shifts between 5 AM - 1 PM (occasional afternoons/evenings as needed).
- Workload: 1-3 pastry prep shifts per week, plus 1-3 breakfast shifts (prep shifts often follow breakfast shifts).
