This is a full-time middle school ELA position teaching eighth grade students. The position involves working within a teaming structure and requires a solid understanding of middle school philosophy and best practices. The candidate will have a comprehensive ELA background (reading and writing), be familiar with the Common Core State Standards and familiar with competency-based grading and assessment. The ability to work collaboratively is a must as co-planning with the other grade level ELA teacher occurs weekly. This person will also have the ability to implement best practices in an ELA classroom and have the ability to use data to inform instruction. In addition, teachers will have an advisory group and work to develop / implement Project-Based Learning.
