Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one support to a student, assisting with academic tasks, social-emotional
- growth, and behavioral interventions.
- Implement a trauma-informed approach by recognizing and responding to students’ emotional and behavioral needs with sensitivity and patience.
- Support project-based learning initiatives, helping the student engage in hands-on, real-world learning experiences.
- Assist in delivering and adapting curriculum content to meet the student's individualized learning plan (ILP) or Individualized Education Program (IEP).
- Promote extended learning opportunities by integrating community-based learning, vocational experiences, and enrichment activities.
- Collaborate with teachers, special educators, and support staff to ensure a cohesive educational experience.
- Utilize positive behavior support strategies to encourage student engagement and personal growth.
- Foster a safe and structured learning environment tailored to the student’s needs.
- Assist with daily classroom activities, including organization, materials preparation, and reinforcing instructional content.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold district policies and procedures related to student privacy and well-being.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor's degree preferred).
- Experience working in an alternative education setting, special education, or student support role.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and experience working with students who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
- Familiarity with project-based learning and hands-on instructional strategies.
- Understanding of curriculum differentiation and ability to modify learning materials for individual student needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with students, educators, and families.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors using positive reinforcement and restorative practices.
- A commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive educational environment.
- Certification or training in trauma-informed practices, behavior intervention strategies, or special education.
- Experience with alternative education models, vocational training, or community-based learning programs.
- Understanding of extended learning opportunities, including experiential education, job coaching, and service learning.
Work Schedule:
