POSITION: Assistant Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS:
(1) At least 5 years of successful experience in teaching and school administration
(2) Master’s Degree or higher
(3) Demonstrated competence in verbal and written communication skills
(4) Certified or certifiable as Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent of Schools
REPORTS TO: Superintendent of Schools
SUPERVISES: Such staff members as the Superintendent may designate
JOB GOAL: To assist the Superintendent substantially and effectively in the task of providing leadership and support in the administration of district policies, programs, and operations. The Assistant Superintendent plays a key role in policy development, personnel management, student services, grant writing, committee coordination, and compliance with federal and state reporting requirements. The Assistant Superintendent works collaboratively with district staff, administrators, and community stakeholders to ensure excellence in educational outcomes and organizational efficiency.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- In the absence of the Superintendent, assumes the responsibilities of the Superintendent.
- Assists the Superintendent and administration in the administration and management of the educational programs for the SAU.
- Supports the Superintendent in recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and evaluation of district personnel.
- Assists new teachers in the development, submission, and implementation of site-based licensing plans for certification as applicable.
- With assistance from SAU9 administrators, develops and implements new teacher onboarding and mentoring programs.
- Addresses student discipline, attendance, and support services in collaboration with the Superintendent and administration.
- Serves as a liaison between families and the district to resolve concerns and promote equity and inclusion.
- Researches and identifies grant opportunities to support district initiatives. Prepares and submits grant applications and manages awarded funds in compliance with regulations.
- Develops partnerships with community organizations to leverage additional resources for the district and to promote district goals.
- Serves on and/or leads district committees and prepares such reports for the Boards as the Superintendent may request.
- Ensures compliance with all federal and state reporting requirements, including district and state reporting for the NHDOE, assessments, accountability measures, and financial documentation.
- Monitors district data and prepares reports for the Superintendent, School Board, and Department of Education as directed.
- Assists in the development, revision, and implementation of district policies and procedures in alignment with local, state, and federal regulations. Monitors legislative changes and recommends policy updates as needed.
- Assists in the development and execution of the district’s strategic plan.
- Provides leadership during budget development and monitors fiscal accountability.
- Represents the SAU favorably.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as assigned by the Superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve-month year - salary and work year to be established by the Board. Anticipated Start Date: July 1st, 2025
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
