What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute position at School Board Office?
Substitutes are needed in all schools for the following positions:
- Teacher
- Instructional Assistant
- Secretary
- Child Nutrition Program Assistant
- Custodian
- School Health Assistant (EMT-B Certification Required)
- School Nurse (RN licensure or EMT-B Certification required)

Steps to becoming a substitute in ACPS
- Apply online*
- Register for a sub workshop.
- Get a background check done.**
- Fill out tax forms and payroll information**
- We will set you up in the sub system once all paperwork is complete and email you a copy of your login information.
*We do not make contact with you after you have applied. Please register for a sub workshop on our webaite as soon as you apply.
**Steps 3 and 4 can be completed when you are in the building for the sub workshop.
