Job Overview
The School District of Beloit is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Paraprofessional - English Language Learner (ELL) at Beloit Memorial High School to provide instructional and classroom support to ELL students. This role will assist teachers in delivering language development services and ensure students receive the necessary support to achieve academic success.
Duties
- Provide instructional assistance to ELL students under the supervision of a certified teacher.
- Support students in developing English language skills in speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension.
- Assist in modifying classroom materials and activities to support language development.
- Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to reinforce lessons and concepts.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to the teacher and support staff.
- Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and parents as needed.
- Support student participation in classroom activities and transitions.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all student-related matters.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma and one of the following: 48 college credits, OR associate’s degree, OR successful completion of a formal assessment test (ACT WorkKeys, Parapro-Assessment ETS, or ParaEducator Master Teacher).
- Shall be eligible for Wisconsin Special Education Program Aide Certification #883.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish.
- Possess basic information technology and media skills to support instruction.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and families from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with English Language Learners in an educational setting.
- Familiarity with instructional strategies and language acquisition support.
