Chinese Teacher (Part Time 0.4 FTE), Clayton High School

The School District of Clayton is seeking a part-time Chinese teacher (0.4 FTE) for the 2025-2026 school year at Clayton High School. The successful candidate will be academically talented, fluent in Chinese, be well-versed in American high school foreign language pedagogy, be knowledgeable and skilled in managing students in a U.S. classroom, able to differentiate instruction and assess learning using a variety of methods and be proficient in English.

The Successful Candidate :

• Is knowledgeable about high school philosophy and the developmental needs of adolescents and will be able to present the curriculum using a problem-centered approach.
• Demonstrates appropriate long and short-term preparation for classroom instruction.
• Holds high expectations for all students and serves as a facilitator of student learning.
• Organizes and uses a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings.
• Assesses student progress, provides students and parents with specific feedback and uses the results to adjust instruction as needed.
• Provides opportunities for academic support and challenge.
• Takes responsibility for teaching the District curriculum as outlined in the curriculum documents.
• Demonstrates an understanding of how knowledge is created, organized, and linked to other disciplines and life experiences.
• Keeps abreast of current developments in the field and continues to deepen understanding of the discipline(s).
• Establishes and maintains a functional, attractive, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community.

Position : Part Time 0.4 FTE.

Education : Bachelor's Degree required. Major or Minor in content area required. Master's Degree preferred.

Certification : Missouri teacher certification, with required endorsements for subject and level assigned.

Experience : Experience teaching advanced Chinese (Level 4 / 5)preferred.
