Title: YWCA Child Center 4K Teacher

Reports To: Executive Director/Child Center Director

Pay Grade: starting at $26.50/hour

Job Summary/Objective

Responsible for coordinating all elements in the assigned classroom of the YWCA Child Center and the La Crosse School District covering day to day operations and care for children in the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Plan both long and short range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy
• Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child
• Encourage assistants to contribute to curriculum planning
• Prepare monthly plan charts
• Complete bi-annual assessment of children's development
• Report progress of children to parents in bi-annual reports and through parent-teacher conferences
• Maintain daily open communication with parents
• Keep accident reports and maintain anecdotal records
• Maintain confidentiality
• Report any suspect abuse to supervisor
• Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goals and philosophy
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment
• Inspect and replace damaged or lost materials
• Attend in-service and staff meetings as well as any professional development days and meetings with the school district
• Supervise assistants, aides and volunteers while in the classroom
• Keep all appropriate records such as attendance, grades and progress of students on Skyward with the school district
• Work with the Child Center Director to meet all applicable licensing regulations
• Work with the school district to meet all standards with the district
• Maintain portfolios for children in accordance with YoungStar and NAEYC
• Work with support staff from the La Crosse school district and carry out any activities needed to meet the IEP goals for the child
  
  

Required Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age
• One year experience as a teacher’s aide in a licensed childcare facility
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Early Childhood Education with a current teaching license
