What are the responsibilities and job description for the Part Time Special Education Assistant ~ Lodi Primary School position at School District of Lodi, WI?
Teachers and educational assistants are partners in education, working together to provide the best educational experience possible for each child. The special education assistant’s role is to assist the teacher and allow more effective utilization of the teacher's abilities and professional knowledge. Special Education Assistants serve under the direction and supervision of the special education teacher to assist in carrying out the individualized education program.
The successful candidate will provide academic assistance to students with disabilities in 1 on 1, small group, and whole group settings during instructional times as well as providing behavioral and self regulation support. Daily responsibilities may also include; crossing guard duty, outside supervision, and lunchroom supervision.
A successful candidate must be friendly, patient, outgoing, flexible, organized and enjoy working with students with disabilities. Educational assistants must communicate with students in a positive manner, have a strong work ethic, and be able to work under teacher supervision. Candidates must be able to supervise both small and large groups of students, be able to sit on the floor, stand for long stretches of time, and walk briskly. Successful candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, background check, drug test, and TB screening. The ability to speak Spanish is desired but not required.
The position is for 5.75 hours per day, Monday through Friday, and will follow the school year calendar. The position begins January 2, 2025.
