Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement engaging, standards-aligned visual arts curriculum suitable for diverse student populations and grade levels.
  • Teach foundational and advanced techniques in drawing, painting, sculpture, digital media, ceramics, and other visual art forms.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that encourages students to explore artistic creativity and express themselves.
  • Evaluate student artwork and provide constructive, ongoing feedback to students and families.
  • Organize student art exhibitions, showcases, and participate in school-wide and community arts events.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to enhance student achievement and enrich the school's arts culture.
  • Maintain organized classroom management aligned with district policies and guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Valid California Single Subject Credential in Art or eligibility to obtain credential (California offers credential reciprocity for out-of-state educators).
  • English Learner (EL) Authorization or eligibility to obtain from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Previous experience teaching visual arts to diverse student populations preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to fostering creativity, inclusion, and artistic expression for all students.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to actively engage students in hands-on artistic activities.
  • Effective visual and auditory capabilities to instruct and guide artistic projects and critique student work.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Art Education, Fine Arts, or related field required; Master's degree preferred.

Salary & Benefits

  • Competitive salary range: $56,155 – $117,259 annually, based on education and experience. Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and retirement contributions.
  • Additional stipends available for advanced degrees or extra responsibilities.

  • Length of Work Year: Typically 10 months (school-year calendar)
