Position Overview:

Employment Type: Full-TimeThe School, a prestigious all-girls boarding school in Birmingham, PA, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to support students' academic, social-emotional, and personal growth. The ideal candidate will work closely with students, parents, faculty, and administrators to foster a positive and supportive school environment that promotes student well-being and success.
Key Responsibilities: Student Support & Counseling:- Provide individual and group counseling to students addressing academic, social, emotional, and personal challenges.
- Support students in stress management, conflict resolution, peer relationships, and emotional regulation.
- Assist students in developing coping strategies and problem-solving skills.
- Academic Guidance & Collaboration:
- Work with students to set academic goals and develop strategies for success.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to support students with learning differences, IEPs, and 504 Plans.
- Provide guidance on college readiness, career exploration, and personal development.
- Crisis Intervention & Behavioral Support:
- Respond to student crises, provide intervention strategies, and make referrals when necessary.
- Act as a liaison between students, families, and outside mental health professionals.
- Implement and support school-wide wellness initiatives and prevention programs.
- Parental & Faculty Collaboration:
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
- Conduct workshops and training for faculty on mental health awareness and student support strategies.
- Participate in staff meetings, student support team meetings, and parent conferences.
- Qualifications:
- Education: Masters degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Certification: Valid Pennsylvania School Counseling Certification (K-12) preferred.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in school counseling or a similar role.
- Experience working with adolescents in an academic setting.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and mental health concerns.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a boarding school environment.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in boarding schools or residential programs.
- Training in trauma-informed counseling, restorative practices, and crisis management.
- Familiarity with college and career planning for high school students.
