Our Middle School at School in the Square is our founding campus at S2, where we began our belief that a culture of care leads to a culture of achievement. Our middle school is located in Washington Heights where our programs are designed with students' personal interests and learning styles in mind. S2’s program is dedicated to providing each student with the tools and support to become lifelong learners. That includes embracing that 89% of S2 families identify as Hispanic or Latinx.
We are looking for a dedicated, mission-aligned Culture Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Principal, the Culture Coordinator will:

We are looking for a dedicated, mission-aligned Culture Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Principal, the Culture Coordinator will:
- Works with the Principal to establish a safe and secure learning environment for students.
- Develops and administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with school policies and state laws.
- Maintain systems for collecting and tracking data on school culture metrics, including discipline and attendance.
- Serve as a liaison to parents and facilitate parent education and involvement in support of school culture policies.
- Facilitate faculty and staff professional development related to school culture and consistent enforcement of student discipline.
- Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that address the needs of at-risk students.
- Monitors and organizes attendance functions. Calls parents and attends meetings as needed, regarding absent or tardy students. Creates and monitors systems for attendance improvement efforts.
- Lead professional development and coaching of staff to improve planning and implementation of social-emotional learning, school culture, and classrooms centered in belief and belonging.
- Provides direction to a variety of faculty, staff, and student programs and services; participates in formal and informal classroom visitations and observations; provides recommendations and suggestions for improvement as appropriate.
- Someone who has experience and demonstrated ability in working with children in a teaching, counseling or other applicable capacity.
- A strategic, solutions-focused thinker with strong communication and planning skills.
- A strong relationship builder, you get personal fulfillment by teaching and coaching students in both academic and non-instructional situations, respecting and encouraging student effort.
- Familiar with restorative practices, a strong believer in anti racism education, culturally responsive and sustaining pedagogy, trauma informed practices.
- Self-reflective with the capacity to accept and implement feedback to improve practice.
- Bilingual in Spanish Required.
