Position Summary

The Director serves as the leader responsible for fostering a culture of compliance and awareness while ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and institutional policies. This includes managing sensitive claims of sexual misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and accessibility or accommodation needs with empathy and professionalism.

Reporting to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Director navigates complex investigations, institutional responsibilities, and compliance efforts while collaborating with cabinet-level leadership to align Title IX and related strategies with the institution’s goals. The role also involves driving campus-wide prevention initiatives through education and delivering training programs that promote a safe and respectful environment.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the Title IX Coordinator and 504 Coordinator.
  • Ensure institutional compliance with Title IX, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ADA, and other laws/regulations.
  • Manage sensitive investigations from intake to resolution, maintaining impartiality, confidentiality, and legal accuracy.
  • Provide empathetic guidance and support to all parties involved in complaints or accommodations.
  • Partner with cabinet-level leadership and campus representatives to align policies with institutional priorities.
  • Identify systemic concerns and recommend updates to policies, monitoring processes, and educational efforts.
  • Develop and lead training initiatives to prevent discrimination, harassment, and misconduct.
  • Enhance campus-wide awareness of resources and compliance programs.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and produce reports for institutional and external stakeholders.
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks by proactively analyzing trends and recommending institutional changes.
  • Supervise staff, including work allocation, performance evaluations, and professional development.

QUALIFICATIONS (an equivalent amount of training, education and experience will be considered)

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or a related field, or the equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in a legal, compliance, or higher education-related field, such as student conduct, student life, or employee relations.
  • Extensive knowledge of Title IX regulations and compliance processes, including investigations and policy implementation.
  • Experience managing cases related to federal and state-mandated compliance areas, including Title VII, ADA, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual misconduct.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct complex investigations with professionalism and empathy, rendering evidence-based decisions.
  • Strong communication skills, with experience working alongside senior leadership.
  • Advanced degree in law, higher education administration, or a related field is preferred.

  • Advanced critical thinking, analytical, and evaluative skills, with the ability to summarize and synthesize information objectively.
  • Proficiency in formulating policies and developing innovative strategies and procedures.
  • Ability to stay informed on changes to compliance-related legislation and adapt institutional practices accordingly.
  • Expertise in providing consultative guidance and serving as a trusted advisor to stakeholders at all levels.
