Job Summary
The primary role of the full-time Instructor – CIS/CNT (Computer Information Systems/Computer Networking Technology) as part of the teaching faculty, is to promote student success in a professional and ethical manner. Responsible for instructing and facilitating student learning; committed to student recruitment and retention; assessment of learning, development of curriculum, and the use of both classroom and distance learning instruction. This position is part of the teaching faculty and reports to the designated administrator.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Information Systems/Computer Networking Technology or related area.
  • Five (5) years of current work experience in Computer Information Systems/ Computer Networking Technology.
  • Relevant industry certifications from Cisco, CompTIA, EC Council, Microsoft, and Amazon.
  • Experience in relevant programming areas including C , Java, Python, JavaScript, web technologies, and/or mobile application development.
  • Commitment to provide service to the department, campus, and the larger community.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Networking Technology or other related area.
  • Two (2) years of post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Cisco Academy credentialed to teach CCNA and/or cybersecurity courses.
  • Experience developing curriculum, and online courses that meet QM standards.
  • Ability to employ new pedagogies, multi-media and information technologies to supplement instruction within the community college classroom and alternative delivery methodologies.

  • Writing Skills: Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from prospective and current employees, and groups of managers.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Office Environment: This role may involve being in a stationary position in front of a computer, using a keyboard, mouse (or applicable equipment) and telephone. Communicating and exchanging information with individuals electronically or in person. This role also involves moving objects of up to 10 lbs.

Work Hours
Per Faculty Contract: Approx 15 contact hrs/week for base load of Fall and Winter semesters; approx 31 weeks for base load of Fall and Winter semesters.
