What are the responsibilities and job description for the Produce Manager position at Schuette's Market?
The Produce Manager manages the operations of and is responsible for the quality & profitability of the produce department. Produce Managers maintain operating standards for the department and are responsible for sales, gross profit, shrink, supply costs and other budgeted items. In addition, Produce Managers must inspect the freshness & quality of produce items; prepare merchandise in the prep area; oversee inventory control; maintain pricing and department paperwork; display merchandise in attractive & colorful manner; maintain equipment & proper temperatures; assist in the unloading of merchandise and transport stock to coolers & storage areas.
We are looking for team members who will greet customers in a friendly and helpful way, who can answer customer questions and make each of our customers feel welcome, appreciated and looked after.
Previous retail store experience is preferred. Previous experience with customer service is also preferred. Excellent people skills are required. Must be able to communicate with customers in a friendly, efficient manner. Must be comfortable with computers. Must be able to perform basic math computations, such as addition subtraction, and division. Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, including discounts, gross margins, percentages, proportions and ratios. Candidates should be highly motivated with a sense of urgency and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment at all times with all levels of employees. Must be a team player! Must have good hand eye coordination and have good dexterity in hands and fingers to enable trimming & packaging of produce, rotating displays and stocking displays with above average repetition. Must be able to scan or input orders accurately and efficiently and identify department numbers, produce items, UPC numbers. Good eye sight with ability to see color. Perception of sounds is required. Must be able to lift and/or push pull while standing, up to 50 pounds frequently. The job requires standing, walking, bending, climbing throughout the entire work day and the ability to lift, stack and maneuver objects. Minimum age for employment is 18. Weekend, evening and holiday work will be required.
