Tourism is the second-largest industry in the state of Wyoming and the Pulte Gateway to Hospitality Internship is a hands-on learning and development program that provides the skills, knowledge, and practical experience needed to thrive in this dynamic industry. Designed exclusively for University of Wyoming students, this immersive, paid internship will provide exposure to the rewarding work of a non-profit charitable foundation with an innovative business model and enable you to build a foundational set of hospitality skills and general business acumen that will set you up for success beyond your internship!
Pulte Family Charitable Foundation (PFCF) is an organization that supports charitable initiatives serving those in need in Wyoming, across the United States, and around the globe. PFCF owns several hotels, including the Hilton Garden Inn at the University of Wyoming, which donate 100% of their profits to these charitable initiatives. Additionally, through our “Humanitarian Hotels” strategy, we strive to live out the foundation’s mission of helping those in need by bettering the lives of our hotel employees and people in surrounding communities.

PROGRAM PARAMETERS
- Designed for University of Wyoming students with a preference in Hospitality, Outdoor Recreation, and Tourism Management (ORTM), or related degree
- As part of the application, you will rank your preference for a Winter or Summer start date:
- Winter Internship: Start between January and May 2024
- Summer Internship: Start between May and August 2024
- Ten-to-twelve-week structured Internship in hotel operations disciplines including, but not limited to Front Office, Housekeeping, F&B, Sales and more! Gain real-life experience working side-by-side with seasoned hospitality professionals
- Professional development and targeted growth opportunities through feedback and coaching, focusing on skills such as customer service, teamwork, and problem solving
- Virtual meetings with leadership team and hospitality interns throughout portfolio
- Virtual meetings with the Pulte Asset Team to learn about the work the Pulte Family Charitable Foundation does to end poverty and their unique Humanitarian Hotels business model
- Group project where you will work with other interns to organize, plan, and host a charitable event at the hotel where all of the profits go to a local organization

- Work closely with the General/Operations Managers handling the day-to-day responsibilities of key frontline roles such as Room Attendant, Front Desk, F&B Server and more
- Learn the operational workings of each department through hands-on practical experience, observation of team members, participation in meetings, asking questions, and special department projects
- Spend a minimum of 10 weeks rotating between various departments, executing and observing day-to-day work in assigned departments
- Meet regularly with your property coach/mentor to discuss your progress
- Actively identify new areas for learning and takes advantage of learning opportunities
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Excellent analytical and creative thinking skills
- Self-motivated mentality
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and balance priorities to hit timelines
- Must be flexible to work extended hours due to business requirements, including nights, weekends and holidays
