Early Intervention Service Coordinator
Qualifications:
- A valid, permanent Pennsylvania teaching certificate is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
- Special Education and/or Early Childhood certification is required.
- Experience in special education, early intervention, or early childhood settings is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of child development, including its relationship to curriculum content, developmentally appropriate teaching strategies, and preschool materials and equipment needs.
- Knowledge of special education regulations is required.
- Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage stressful situations, complete extensive paperwork within required timelines, and work effectively with diverse cultural backgrounds.
- A valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
Responsibilities:
- The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following fundamental duties:
- Attend Toddler Transition meetings, inform parents of the next steps, and complete the transition process prior to each child’s third birthday.
- Screen and evaluate children referred by the Preschool Early Intervention program in accordance with state regulations. Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), conduct IEP meetings, and obtain parental consent for student services in a family-friendly environment, ensuring compliance with state regulations and submission deadlines.
- Schedule and conduct classroom visits as necessary.
- Review, revise, and finalize paperwork, and assign students to therapists via HCSIS.
- Provide follow-up consultation to staff and parents as needed.
- Collaborate with team members to address challenges and opportunities within the program.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, teachers, administrators, social service agencies, and other stakeholders supporting young children and their families.
- Assist with staff development by providing and participating in training sessions and staying informed of IU29, state, and federal policies and procedures.
- Attend LILAC and LICC meetings as scheduling allows.
- Participate in quarterly QEP meetings with OCDEL and EITA.
- Order, manage, and distribute classroom snacks and supplies.
- Assist with the Kindergarten Transition process, which continues until the child enters kindergarten.
- Serve as the Preschool Local Educational Agency (LEA) representative for assessments and ER/IEP development.
- Support staff in managing caseload-related tasks within the office.
- Handle referrals from external entities as assigned.
- Participate in evaluations and ongoing IEP development as needed.
- Collaborate with the Assistant Special Education Director to plan and implement program operations, update curriculum, and refine assessment procedures.
- Demonstrate effective teaching techniques and provide guided practice for staff.
- Assist the Assistant Special Education Director in the daily operations of the program.
- Provide consultation to EI staff regarding assessments, ER/IEP development, and instructional strategies.
- Plan and lead team meetings focused on relevant professional development topics.
- Support staff in implementing state and OCDEL-mandated initiatives.
- Assist in developing procedures and training for Early Intervention regulations, OCDEL initiatives, Pelican updates, and related policies.
- Monitor and ensure the completion of the required paperwork by Early Intervention staff.
- Arrange for interpreters and facilitate document translation as needed to support linguistic and cultural diversity.
- Perform other job-related duties as required or assigned by the Assistant Director of Special Education or the Director of Special Education.

Method of Evaluation:
- Performance of the job will be evaluated annually by the Assistant Director of Special Education per provisions of the Board’s Policy on evaluation of personnel.

Terms of Employment:
- The Early Intervention Coordinator shall be employed for twelve (12) months per year. Salary and benefits will be established by the Board of Education.
- This position may include evening hours and overnight trips.
- Attendance is a requirement of this position and the Assistant Director of Education must approve all absences.

Work is done mainly indoors but could include outside tasks.
- Must be able to negotiate stairs and rough terrain in the community and in homes.
- This position requires travel over a wide geographic area at least 50% of the scheduled time in order to provide service.
